THE annual competition to find Bexley’s most talented young musicians is about to reach its climax.
The competition, now in its seventh year, is run by the five Rotary Clubs of Bexley.
Each year, they invite young musicians aged under 19 who live or go to school or college in the borough, to enter the competition.
This year nine musicians, including just one boy, will battle it out in the final, to be held in front of a live audience at the Townley Theatre at Townley Grammar School, Townley Road, Bexleyheath.
It will feature singing, violins, cello, piano and flutes and each finalist has put together a programme lasting up to eight minutes, which will be judged by a panel of musical experts.
Each finalist will take home a certificate and £50 and the winner will also get the Bexley Young Musician of the Year trophy.
The final takes place on March 6 and tickets costing £8 (£5 for students) are available from Brian Rippington on 01474 832900 or by emailing b-rip@supanet.com
