A SOCIAL club for over 65s looking to find love has been launched by News Shopper.
After we called for pensioners who are seeking companionship to get in touch, more than 70 people came forward.
Around 40 of them met at the Sovereign of the Seas pub in Petts Wood yesterday for a drink, a bite to eat and good company.
They decided to call the group the Wednesday Club, and 69-year-old Sidcup resident Margaret Hutchings volunteered to become chairwoman.
She said: “It is not easy to get to know new people when you’re over 65, so this is a great way to make new friends and possibly more.”
The Wednesday Club will now meet at the Sovereign of the Seas, Queensway, Petts Wood, at 2pm every Wednesday. All over 65s are welcome to come along.
For more details, call Ms Hutchings on 020 8269 3060, Jean Tilsed on 020 8857 4337, or Stephanie Burton on 020 8302 2338.
