NEW jobs have been created by a council for 18 to 24-year-olds who had been unemployed for more than six months.
Kent County Council (KCC) has given 30 people, including five from north Kent, a six-month 30 hours a week paid placement as a support warden.
The job sees the new recruits assisting community wardens, who liaise between the council and residents to fix local problems, such as cleaning up litter in parks.
Funding for the new roles comes from the government’s Future Jobs Fund scheme, which aims to create employment for young people. KCC cabinet member for community services Mike Hill said: “Community Wardens play an important role in our county.
“We’re delighted we can add extra support to the work they do and help these young people get into employment at the same time.”
