A TURKEY farmer whose home was targeted in an armed raid refuses to live in fear, despite only one of the raiders being caught.
Zach Zeto pleaded guilty to his part in a raid at Cottage Farm, Cacket’s Lane, Cudham, where £23,590 was stolen from the safe.
The 18-year-old, of Chulsa Road, Sydenham, was one of the raiders who stormed into the farmhouse brandishing a weapon in the middle of the night on August 5 last year.
Marched to the safe at gunpoint
Farmer’s son Jody Baxter was marched to the safe at gunpoint and made to take out the money.
Zeto is due to be sentenced for aggravated burglary and possession of an imitation firearm with the intent to endanger life at Croydon Crown Court on March 5.
Raiders still at large six months on
But in the six months since the burglary on August 5 last year, no-one else has been charged for the crime.
Three other men who carried out the raid are still at large and it is also thought four or five other people may have been waiting outside the property including two suspects driving vehicles, one of which was a blue Renault Clio.
Farm owner Philip Baxter said: “People should not be allowed to go around and do these kinds of things.
“They are not people that should be allowed to go around in society.
“Of course we would like to see them caught and pay for their crimes.”
The 60-year-old added: “But as far as I’m concerned it is in the past and life has to go on.
“You brush it aside and think about the future.”
Two of the women who live in the house were woken up at gunpoint and marched downstairs by the raiders.
They are still affected by what happened although Mr Baxter said it is getting easier.
He said: “It has caused some problems but we have taken a lot of security measures to make sure it does not happen again.
“Time does help a bit but it is a difficult thing to get over.”
