A CONCERT has been held to raise money for a sick toddler battling a rare type of cancer.

News Shopper has previously reported how two-year-old Stella Rogers was diagnosed with neuroblastoma when she was 17-months-old.

Her family have raised more than £40,000 but £250,000 is needed to keep her out in the US where she is receiving a revolutionary treatment.

The Greenwich University Big Band raised £1,732 by holding a Swing for Stella concert at the Avery Hill Campus, which was attended by 200 people.

Stella starts her lifesaving antibody treatment on Thursday (February 18) in Philadelphia.

Her mum, Allison Hyde, said: “I can’t believe so much money was raised in a single event and I’m really touched by the huge effort made by the big band to put on such a fun event and the generous support they received.

“Even though I’m 3,000 miles away I am following all the events keenly and I’m thrilled by the support for my beautiful little girl.”
