Not surprisingly commentators have had a field day with Gordon Brown's interview with Piers Morgan, broadcast on ITV last night.

In the Telegraph Matthew d’Ancona described the PM's willingness to bear his soul to the nation as “bogus”.

The Times editorial described his TV persona as “not quite right – like a man who learnt to dance from a series of still pictures”.

Perhaps the biggest surprise is just how moderate Quentin Letts in the Daily Mail was in his judgement, admitting the PM’s appearance may have been politically “shrewd”, if a little “desperate”.

Michael White in the Guardian said that the interview made him feel sorry for Gordon Brown "in the wrong way". That is, in the way viewers of Britain’s Got Talent felt about Susan Boyle before she started singing.

Only Jim Shelley in the Daily Mirror had a word of praise for Mr Brown, saying he was “secretly a very nice bloke.”

Did Gordon Brown’s interview with Piers Morgan change you mind about the PM? Was he right to appear on primetime TV and answer questions about his private life? Have your say.
