A 29-YEAR-OLD man has been ordered to pay more than £13,500 after his money was linked to crime.
Danny Garvey, of Ackroyd Road, Brockley, is currently serving an 18-month prison sentence after being convicted of possessing drugs with intent to supply in September last year.
Garvey was ordered to pay £13,544 at a confiscation hearing at Woolwich Crown Court on February 5 after Lewisham police’s payback unit linked the money to crime.
The order requires the cash to be paid within six months. If Garvey fails to do this another nine months will be added to his sentence and he will still have to repay the money.
Financial investigator Ian Smith said: “Lewisham police’s payback unit used the latest legislation to investigate Danny Garvey and found he made a profit out of his crime.
“Our specialist team worked hard to take that profit away from him and we will continue to investigate anyone who benefits from crime.”
