THE News Shopper area has escaped the worst of the latest snow.

Heavy snowfall and ice in parts of Kent – particularly around Ashford, Canterbury and Dover - have led to hazardous driving conditions and school closures this morning but no problems are currently being reported in south-east London or north Kent.

Some train services to and from Kent are subject to delays and cancellations.

The weather forecast is for very chilly temperatures in this area today, with some light snow predicted for north Kent this morning.

The cold weather will linger into the weekend but forecasters said the cold snap would not immediately be as severe as in December and January.
