A COUNCIL welcomed 28 apprentices to celebrate their achievements.
The Lewisham Council event at Catford Town Hall, Catford Road, was part of National Apprenticeship Week.
Those taking part in the council scheme were given training sessions and advice on moving forward with their careers.
Of those involved, three are aged under-18 while another 15 are between 19 and 24-years-old.
Placements include ones at Deptford’s Albany theatre, the Stephen Lawrence Trust, and council departments.
The scheme was created by the council to help support the community during the economic downturn, creating placements for youth work, human resources and finance.
Mayor of Lewisham Sir Steve Bullock told them: “I believe that you too can choose to go wherever you want to go if you work hard and put in the effort.
“These apprenticeships will open up all kinds of opportunities. I hope you take full advantage of them.”
