YOUNGSTERS and parents enjoyed a day of singing and dancing to celebrate Chinese New year.
Around 300 people attended Meridian Primary School in Old Woolwich Road, Greenwich, to watch performances by the Greenwich Chinese Community School.
Mayor of Greenwich Councillor Allan MacCarthy and Councillor Don Austen also attended the event which celebrated the year of the tiger.
Children aged five to 11 took part in a dance routine and youngsters aged five demonstrated Kung Fu.
Headteacher Josephine Chan said: “The infant children have only been learning Kung Fu for a year. They were pretending to be Jackie Chan.”
A group of teens aged 14 to 18 also performed a song in English, Mandarin and Cantonese.
Children were given a Lycee, which is a red envelope with money in to bring them good luck.
Mrs Chan said: “It was a successful day and everyone enjoyed it. I wish everybody a really happy and successful year.”
