When I say the word ‘Friends’ what springs to mind? … Of course the 90s hit sitcom ‘Friends’!

With the numerous awards the sitcom had won such as the Golden Globe and Bafta Award, it truly was a hit, but we all know that. What we don’t know is about the private lives of the actors off screen.

Matthew Perry, better known as Chandler Bing was brought up mostly by his mother due to his parents divorce. Growing up, he began to play tennis on a national level and became well known in Canada. Moving to Los Angeles at 15, to live with his father, Matthew found it difficult to keep up with the competitiveness of tennis here, and therefore turned to his father’s profession as an actor, despite never intending to go down this career path, Perry stuck with it.

During his filming for ‘Friends’, Matthew faced some troubles as he developed a prescription drug addiction. To help him overcome this addiction, Perry spent time in rehab, but his on and off habit gave him both dramatic weight loss and gain which were noticeable on the sitcom however; his co-star Jennifer Aniston helped him through his tough time as his trainer.

Although we all know Chandler to be the “funny guy who’s life revolves around his six friends” the actor behind him, differs completely.
