PRIMARY school pupils have been rewarded for their environmental work by a charity.
Middle Park Primary School, Middle Park Avenue, Eltham, has been given a gold award plaque by the Woodland Trust.
The trust’s Green Tree Schools scheme rewards schools every time they participate in its activities.
Youngsters at the school have planted trees, recycled Christmas cards, visited woodland and reduced their carbon emissions.
The school has its own gardening club and took part in Keep Britain Tidy’s Big Tidy Up campaign.
Teacher Susan Fenn said: “The planting of trees and hedges have inspired our eco warriors to become more involved with local parks and they have made bird boxes and planted bulbs.”
Trust schools development officer Karen Letten said: “The scheme promotes a range of opportunities, each designed to stimulate a child’s imagination and sustain their interest in nature.”
