CASH confiscated from criminals has been invested in a community project to stamp out anti-social behaviour.
As part of the government’s community cashback initiative, £40,000 will be used to provide security fencing and gates for residents living in flats in Bridges Drive, Dartford.
In the last five years the area has been a source of regular complaints about vandalism and youths loitering in communal areas.
Eighty-four families are set to benefit from the investment, which is administered by the Kent Criminal Justice Board and obtained following a successful bid by Dartford Council.
Kent police’s Deputy Chief Constable, Adrian Leppard, who chairs the justice board, said: “That money from the proceeds of crime has been confiscated and put to good use funding grass roots projects throughout Kent and beyond is another example of the criminal justice system having a positive impact at neighbourhood level.”
