POLICE have renewed an appeal for information after reports of a fourth incident of a child being accosted in north Kent.

Kent police are linking all incidents to the same silver car being driven by a white man in his 30s.

The latest allegation was reported on January 30 where a group of three girls and one boy aged between eight and 10 were approached at around lunchtime in Dartford.

On January 22 an 11-year-old boy was approached in Northfleet on his way home from school and on the same day in Gravesend a 12-year-old boy was also approached on his way home from school.

Earlier in the month a 10-year-old girl was approached on her way to school in Joydens Wood on January 13.

In each case none of the children were harmed in any way and the man drove off.

Kent police’s Detective Inspector Chris Collier, who is leading the investigation, said: “Firstly I would like to thank everyone who has been in contact with information concerning these incidents.

“We had concerns that there may have been other linked incidents which had not been reported to us, but there has only been one other confirmed incident since the investigation began a week ago.

“In each case we are being told that the approach was made by a white man in his 30s who was driving a silver car.

“I would urge anyone who has information which may help with our investigation to get in touch.”

Parents

Parents have set up a group on Facebook to raise public awareness of the accostings and provide advice.

Leonora Buyers, whose son and daughter attend schools in Gravesend, found out about the incidents on Thursday (Feb 4) and criticised schools for not telling parents and pupils earlier.

The 51-year-old said: “If the schools have known about this as long as the police have, they should have told parents and pupils earlier.

“Our children's safety is at stake.”
