AN 18-YEAR-OLD girl from Beckenham has died after being hit by a train.
The incident happened at Sundridge Park last night (February 4) when the 7.30pm Grove Park to Bromley North service was pulling into the station.
Energency services were called but they could not save the teenager who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The manager of the nearby Crown Restaurant, Jivko Jivkov, watched as the emergency services arrived.
Mr Jivkov said: “I was here with a guest and we kept seeing police cars coming, literally every minute.
“There were so many police cars and I think they closed the station for a couple of hours.”
He says a police officer stood on the railway bridge for about 15 minutes to stop people from walking over it.
The 28-year-old added: “It is a shock.
“I have been here for about four months and no major incidents have happened like that.
“She was an 18-year-old girl and it is really sad for her and her family.”
British Transport Police officers are now preparing a report about the incident for the coroner.
