In order to raise money for the victims of the Haiti earthquake, killing over 200,000 people, Simon Cowell is organising a cover of REM’s hit ‘Everybody Hurts’ featuring some of the biggest names on the planet.

Simon Cowell was said to have received a phone call from the Prime Minister asking him to put together a Band-Aid style single, and is even lifting VAT on the record to maximise the funds raised.

Being recorded in Trevor Horn’s Sarm Studios, which also held the recording of the original ‘Do they know it’s Christmas’ in 1984, this is sure to be a great help to the people of Haiti.

The track is due to be released on February 7th with all proceeds to be donated to the Disasters Emergency Committee.

The line up so far includes Rod Stewart, Susan Boyle, Cheryl Cole, Michael Buble, Leona Lewis and Sir Paul McCartney to name a few.

Each singer is separately recording their few lines which are then to be merged together digitally to create this highly awaited track.

With stars flying in from around the world, there is already talk that this could become one of the biggest selling singles of all time.
