POLITICIANS are urging a train company to review its rush hour services.
MP for Greenwich and Woolwich, Nick Raynsford, and MP for Lewisham East, Bridget Prentice, are calling on Southeastern Trains to review rush hour services to and from Blackheath station.
A new timetable came into effect on December 13 last year, which has seen a reduction in the number of trains during 7.45am and 8.45am.
Ben Kelland from Blackheath Village Residents Group set up an online petition to get the service changed, which now has more than 1,100 signatures.
Southeastern are conducting a study of overcrowding on all their services and will be making a decision about whether to lengthen rush hour trains from Blackheath for the new May timetable.
Mrs Prentice said: “We are meeting Southeastern again next month for a progress report and we will get an update on their overcrowding study.
“We will want to know what changes can be made to improve the situation for local commuters.”
