GIRLS from Erith and Crayford District Guides enjoyed a weekend of fun and sightseeing on a trip to celebrate the 100th birthday of the Guiding movement.
From Rainbows to the senior section, 130 Guides and their leaders travelled to by train to York.
Not only did they have their own train carriage for the journey, but a tannoy message at Kings Cross railway station wished them a happy centenary and a great trip, to the bemusement of other travellers.
Staying at a youth hostel in the centre of the city, the girls and their leaders, who had organised the trip, took in all the sights including the York Castle museum, Cliffords Tower and York Minster.
The evening included a ghost walk and an enrolment ceremony and presentation of achievements with the minster as its backdrop.
The following day the girls were split into 13 teams and spent the morning making their way around the city and the National Railway Museum to complete 100 question quiz, before heading for home.
