Every year people across the country spend ages decorating their Christmas trees.
The colour scheme has to be decided, pets have to be kept away form the neatly wrapper presents and if you have a real tree, the Hoover has got to be on hand for ridding the carpet of uncountable pine needles.
However once Christmas has passed, the kid’s have returned any unwanted presents and spirits are generally low, it is time to take down the tree.
If you are lucky enough to live in a house with an open fire, burning the branches is the ideal way to dispose of a real tree.
The house if filled with the heavenly smell of pine needles and the roaring fire is kept alive.
On the other hand those of us who are stuck with an electric fire are slightly more tempted to fulfill the “dump and run” routine.
Except that this Christmas will be different. There are numerous Christmas tree and green waste compositing sites in the local area as listed below:
- • Bromley Common: Norman Park, Hook Farm Road.
- • Beckenham: St George’s Road Car Park, Albemarle Road.
- • Biggin Hill: Charles Darwin School, Jail Lane.

Have a very Merry Christmas and an environmentally friendly New Year!
