POLICE are appealing for information after a 37-year-old man was spat at and forced to hand over £2.
The victim was standing at Catford Bridge station when he was shoved and verbally abused. This continued once the pair were onboard a train before the man stood over him and demanded £2.
Investigating officer at British Transport Police Detective Constable Ryan Hall, said: “When the victim refused to hand any money over the man searched his bag before walking off empty-handed into another carriage, where we believe he may have approached another passenger.”
When the train arrived at Lewisham the victim alerted station staff, who stopped the man and called police.
An 18-year-old man from Forest Hill was subsequently arrested in connection with the incident and was released on bail until February 9.
The incident occurred on January 11.
