THREE people have been forced to pay hundreds of pounds in fines after their cars were found dumped.
All of them were taken to Bexley Magistrates Court by Bexley Council’s enviro-crime team and charged with failing to provide information about the name and address of the statutory keeper of the car, within the required time limit.
All of them were found guilty after failing to appear at court.
Danny Lloyd of Chudleigh Court, Highview Road, Sidcup, was fined £525 with £200 costs.
John Kett of Hartslock Drive, Thamesmead, and Audrey Kim Lim of Pinnacle Hill, Bexleyheath were each fined £350 with £200 costs.
Bexley cabinet member for the envionment, Councillor Gareth Bacon said: “Most of Bexley's residents work hard to help keep the borough clean and tidy.
"We will not tolerate people who leave their unwanted goods for others to deal with. “ He suggested people take their unwanted vehicles to a scrap dealer.
If you see an abandoned car in your area, call the council on 020 8303 7777 and choose option one.
If you know a vehicle which is untaxed, but not abandoned, you should call the DVLA.
