A SOCIAL group which aims to unite women of all faiths and cultures has received a £300 donation from the police.
Kent police gave a cheque to the chairwoman of Gravesend-based Saheli Writers, Daya Sharma, at north Kent police station at the end of last month.
Saheli Writers, which has been running since 1991, has more than 100 members who meet each week for activities such as badminton and yoga.
Detective Chief Inspector Andrea Bishop, who presented the cheque, said: “The Saheli Writers is fantastic group for women to get together, enjoy activities and make friends.
“I’ve been to one of their events before and they are so welcoming and create a wonderful atmosphere.”
The £300 came from Kent police’s property fund, which is money generated from the sale of items seized in police operations and unclaimed lost property.
