RESIDENTS have the chance to help the country’s heroes.
The Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association (SSAFA) Forces Help charity is asking people to raise £125 to celebrate its 125th anniversary.
To mark its anniversary the charity has launched its Target 125 and is asking everyone to “be a hero” and get involved throughout 2010 by either swimming a mile, parachuting from 12,000ft, or sitting in a bath of beans.
The cash raised will go towards providing direct and practical support such as advice and rehabilitation facilities for former Armed Forces people and their families.
Various events will be held during the celebration including a flag day on February 13 which will take place across the borough’s supermarkets.
