CAMPAIGNERS calling for a new cinema will auction off a piece of artwork to help fight a looming planning appeal.
The Crystal Palace Cinema Campaign wants a cinema installed in an old bingo hall in Crystal Palace.
However, the Kingsway International Christian Centre (KICC) own the building in Church Road and saw its application for a new place of worship turned down by Bromley Council last year.
Campaign leaders say an appeal from KICC is imminent and so they will auction off the Big Yellow Field painting during a silent auction, ending on February 12, to raise funds.
A campaign spokesperson said: “We are expecting the KICC to appeal the decision and funds are desperately needed for professional planning advice to fight it.”
Big Yellow Field is on display at the Bigger Picture Gallery in Crystal Palace.
