WHEN it comes to raising money for charity, Lions Clubs are always looking for new ways to generate funds and this year a new project has been launched that we hope will grow and grow!
The Lions Club of Biggin Hill & Westerham is one of 910 clubs throughout the country which is taking part in a giant fundraising drive that could raise more than £250,000 for good causes.
Working together with Thompson & Morgan – the UK’s biggest and best young plants business – we have a unique opportunity for supporters to not only help us raise vital funds, but they will also be amongst the FIRST IN THE COUNTRY to grow an exclusive new begonia!
Not only were Lions Clubs given the opportunity to sell a unique new plant, but Thompson & Morgan also asked us to name it too!
The now aptly-named Begonia ‘Sweet Charity’ is a new variety of scented begonia and thanks to T&M it is available to buy EXLUSIVELY through Lions Clubs!
Members of the Biggin Hill & Westerham Lions club are selling tubers of Begonia ‘Sweet Charity’ in packs of five for just £10 each, with £3 from each pack sold going directly to the club to be distributed to local good causes.
That means the club will raise over £1,000 for every 334 packs sold!
Thompson & Morgan will be supplying the tubers and dispatching them directly to every customer together with comprehensive growing instructions.
Members of the Lions Club of Biggin Hill & Westerham will be selling tubers of Begonia ‘Sweet Charity’ from January through to April, ready for spring planting.
To get yours please send a cheque for £10 (per 5 tubers) payable to Biggin Hill & Westerham Lions Club, together with your name and address:, to Malcolm Lowing, 4 Foxearth Close, Biggin Hill, Westerham, TN16 3HQ.
