A RIVAL to one of the most famous sausages in London has gone on sale, getting a “thumbs up” from a former boss of the historic Kennedy’s butcher chain.
Ron Etheridge is boss of Villagers Sausages in Beckenham High Street and believes he has created a banger to match a cult Kennedy’s sausage.
The Kennedy’s butcher chain was run by the same family for 130 years and had nine stores across south-east London when it closed two years ago.
Mr Etheridge said: “A lot of customers were saying how much they missed the flavour of the old Kennedy’s sausage so I have created the Ken ‘N' Eddies sausage which encompasses all the flavours, quality and texture of the much missed banger.
“More importantly, I have got the thumbs up from the former regional manager of Kennedy’s.”
The banger was unveiled on Monday (November 2) to coincide with National Sausage Week.
