PEOPLE can now pick up a Bexley Council parking permit from their local library.

In the past, residents and businesses have only been able to obtain a permit from the Parking Shop in Bexleyheath Broadway, which will no longer sell them.

Now, in addition to the libraries, permits are also available from the contact centre at the council offices in Bexleyheath.

Penalty charge notices are still payable at the Parking Shop.

If people bring the supporting evidence with them, they will be able to get a resident or business permit as well as car park season tickets and visitor scratch cards, straight away.

Councillor Colin Campbell, cabinet member for finance and corporate services, said: “We are introducing this service to make life easier for Bexley’s residents.”

He added: "It is new, so we would ask for residents' understanding during the early stages of the change."

People can also apply for permits online at bexley.gov.uk
