Some people find it difficult to meet new pals when they move to a different area. A new web service offers the chance for subscribers to get in touch with like-minded folk to enjoy a few drinks with ...
IF YOU are stuck indoors with nowhere to go, or more importantly no-one to go out with, a visit to www.drinkingbuddys.
co.uk could be well worth a look.
This site is designed to get people together but it is not a dating service. Instead, its aim is to find you a drinking buddy.
Lonely drinkers are logging on to the site to find someone to go to the pub with.
The site, which costs £5 a month, was set up by 32-year-old Mark Payne after he moved to a new area where he had no friends and no-one to share a pint with.
Mark, from Newbury, Berks, said: "All my friends were 50 miles away and it's difficult to go into a pub and start talking to people.
"I went out to rent a video and as I was browsing saw other sad gits like myself who were obviously single."
He added: "I've met a dozen people already, including a lady."
You can browse the many ads already on the site for free but once you are signed up you can reply to ads which interest you and find yourself a drinking partner in your area.
The site is proving popular, with hundreds of people having registered their details already.
It may be a very basic looking site which does not score highly for presentation, but it does set out to provide a worthwhile service.
It offers visitors an opportunity to find new pals to enjoy a drink with, and maybe some conversation too.
