GYM equipment to be unveiled in a park was the “last wish” of a community leader.
Frances Walker, who died in April aged 69, had helped raise £50,000 for the park exercise equipment.
Ms Walker, who was chairwoman of both the Horn Park Forum and Horn Park Friends community groups, was also runner-up Green Champion in News Shopper’s Green Guardian Awards.
The equipment will be launched on September 12 with a fun day in the park, in Lee, from midday to 3pm.
It will feature rugby coaching, representatives from Charlton football club, a climbing wall, environment-themed activities and refreshments.
People will be on hand to demonstrate how the equipment, suitable for all ages, can be used.
Beryl Williams from the Friends said: “It was Frances’s last wish really to see this come to fruition. She was the one who started it all off.”
