POLICE have been patrolling Hextable issuing formal and verbal warnings to young people involved in anti-social behaviour.

Warnings include a fixed penalty notice being given for the use of abusive language in a residential area.

PCSO Toby Hawkins, from the Swanley neighbourhood policing team, said: “Anti-social behaviour can affect the quality of life for local communities, which is why the Swanley neighbourhood team takes this matter so seriously.

“Over the last few weeks the number of calls to police about anti-social behaviour in Hextable has dropped significantly, which is an encouraging sign.

“However, we will continue to work with local people and our partners to tackle any issues that arise.”

Officers have also been visiting residents in Swanley warning them to lock doors and close windows to prevent becoming a victim of burglary.

They say there has been a recent series of incidents where burglars have been able to break in through insecure windows and doors.

PCSO Pete Jones said: “Check and double check your doors and windows are locked whenever you go out, or at night.

“If you have uPVC doors and windows make sure you double lock them.

“In other words, don’t just pull them closed, make sure you lift the handle to engage the lock properly and use the keys provided to secure them.

“It’s not enough just to pull the handle up.

“Never leave valuables or car keys visible through doors or windows – and never leave a spare key ‘hidden’ anywhere near your front or back door, because burglars know all the hiding places.”
