A COURSE builder has been chosen for the Olympic cross country horse-riding event in 2012.
The competition, to be held in Greenwich Park, has been given the go ahead by Olympic chiefs despite concerns from some residents’ groups.
London Eventing, a consortium of UK horse trials course builders, will support the Olympic organising committee’s equestrian manager Tim Hadaway and course designer Sue Benson.
Together they will develop plans and build the cross country courses for the test event in 2011 and the games a year later.
Organisers say the consortium will ensure the course is developed while respecting the royal park, a World Heritage Site.
Project manager for London Eventing Jonathan Clissold said: “This is a stunning venue and we can’t wait to develop a course that will showcase Greenwich and its unique heritage.”
