A RAT infestation has forced council clean-up crews to close a busy set of toilets in a town centre.
The public loos opposite Bromley Library were closed on July 28 after cleaners and shoppers complained about the vermin to environmental health officers.
Pest controllers were forced to leave rat poison in the amenities between Bromley High Street and Church House Gardens in an attempt to clear out the rodents.
A council spokesman said: “We apologise for any inconvenience that was caused closing the toilets.
“The toilets are used by the rats when they move between the park and the high street.
“There are no more rats in that park than any other in the borough and in any public space you are going to get rats.
“The toilets are cleaned on a daily basis.”
The conveniences were expected to re-open this week.
