A BUMPER fun day event has netted around £10,000 for the Greenwich and Bexley Cottage Hospice.

The annual event held on Bostall Heath, opposite the hospice in Bostall Hill, Abbey Wood, is one of the hospice’s biggest fundraisers and is now in its 16th year.

More than 50 volunteers manned stalls in the market area selling everything from crafts and plants to jewellery.

There was a children’s activity area, lots of sideshows for people to test their skill or luck and a chance to sit back and enjoy strawberries and cream.

Other attractions included inflatables, a beekeeping area, arena displays, children’s rides, live music and a classic car show.

Hospice chief executive Jim Bennett said: “This year’s event was without doubt the busiest and best yet, with several thousand people attending.”
