STAFF at a secondary school left for the summer holidays with full stomachs after sampling food made during its Masterchef Challenge.
Seven pupils at Bexleyheath School, reached the final cook-off of the competition and had to produce a three-course meal to exacting standards.
Their food not only had to be tasty and well presented, the courses also had to fit together, be part of a healthy diet and their chef had to meet safety and food hygiene requirements.
Organised by the design and technology department at the Woolwich Road school, the meals were judged by members of the senior leadership team and polished off by the PE staff.
Winner Kathryn Perkins, 14, produced a tomato and mozzarella salad followed by chicken and mushroom risotto and a lemon mousse cake.
She won £30 worth of Top Shop and River Island vouchers donated by the Parents and Friends Association.
Ryan Barron, 14, was runner up and got a £10 voucher and in joint third place were Isatu Turay and Georgie Davies, both 14, who also won £10 vouchers.
