A DEMONSTRATION is being held to show that every horse and rider can learn dressage.
Chelsfield Equestrian Centre in Church Road, Chelsfield, is holding a demonstration on August 16 to inspire riders to get involved in dressage.
Dressage is a French term meaning training and is an elegant style of riding which involves learning correct posture, training and communication with the horse.
Centre manager, Cheryl Hammerson, said: “Our aim is to help people realise that you don’t have to be wealthy to have success at dressage, nor do you have to have a highly bred horse.
“All horses are capable of competing at dressage to some level, as long as they are sound, and the rider is committed to correct training principles.”
Miss Hammerson added: “I also have a belief that done properly, dressage training can be of real benefit to all horses.”
The day will involve exhibitions of riding school horses, demonstrations of dressage at various levels of training all on completely ordinary horses, and a tour of the centre facilities.
Tickets cost £12 in advance or on the door with the event starting at 1.30pm. There will also be a barbecue.
All proceeds will be donated to the Southern Region Amateur Dressage Teams which will allow them to represent England at the forthcoming Senior Home International 2009 in Scotland.
