A CHARITY for the homeless has won the award for Best Stall at a council's annual community festival.
Greenwich and Lewisham Nighstop, which provides emergency accommodation for homeless people, aged 16 to 25, won a refund for the cost of the stall pitch at Lewisham People's Day last month.
Charity manager Luke Tredget and volunteer co-ordinator Rosie McGahan were rewarded for the extra effort they made in presenting their stall.
Ms McGahan said: “We’re absolutely delighted to have been singled out. We’re very keen to attract more volunteers to help us answer the demand for our services.
"As well as the emergency accommodation service, we deliver homelessness prevention work across the two boroughs in schools and youth centres.
"We also work with young people around issues such as conflict resolution, money management and the realities of homelessness."
