AN IRISH dancing under-13’s team is celebrating after winning a national competition.
The eight girls, aged 10 to 13, from the Marie Martin School of Irish Dancing came first at the 2009 British National Championships of Irish Dancing, which were held in Manchester from July 23 to 26.
Based at St Vincent's Church Hall, Temple Hill, Dartford, the girls have been together for three years and held off four other teams from across the country to claim the title.
Christine Godfall, 25, who teaches the girls, said: “They train three times a week and have invested a lot of time and hard work into dancing, so they deserve their success.
The school’s under-11’s team claimed second prize in their age category at the championships.
Running for 20 years, the school has more than 70 members. For details of lessons, call Marie Martin on 01322 274459.
