FAMILY members have appealed to the community to talk about a shooting which left a father-of-one dead.
Nathan Williams, aged 24, of Kennington was found in a VW Golf suffering from gunshot wounds in Ludwick Mews, New Cross at 1.30am on July 28.
Mr Williams had been two-thirds of the way through making a three point turn at the end of the road when he was shot through the window of his car.
An ambulance took him to Kings College Hospital but he was pronounced dead at 2.11am.
Family members joined police last night (August 3) to hand out leaflets on the street where Mr Williams died and speak to residents.
A mobile police station was brought to the road and officers stopped cars along New Cross Road until 2am to mark a week since the killing.
Paying tribute at the scene, his mother Ann-Marie Williams, 41, said: “Please, someone have the courage for Nathan because he didn’t deserve this.”
The Greenwich University student, who had a two-year-old son called Shae, was in his third year of studying business.
Mrs Williams said: “He wanted to run his own business. He wanted to work with young people - he was that kind of guy.”
Cousin Zena Hinds, 29, said: “He was a very ambitious and a hard worker.
“When he went off to university it was a big step for him. He was the first boy in our family to go to university.
“He was a loving dad and just a loving member of the family - you could count on him.”
Ms Hinds said the family hoped to set up a trust in his name.
She said: “We want to make sure that his name doesn’t get forgotten - that his life wasn’t in vain.”
Mr Williams’ uncle Ben Hinds urged witnesses to come forward, saying: “This death is a death in all communities. Come forward, do not be afraid.”
A group on social networking site Facebook has now also been set up, urging people to come forward with information.
Police believe his attackers were already in the road when Mr Williams arrived and are looking for four men aged from 15 to 20.
Detective Chief Inspector Gordon Allison from the Met’s Operation Trident said the victim had come to meet “a friend” in the road, which neighbours say was his girlfriend.
He said: “It’s tragic - he’s been shot dead in his car for no apparent reason.”
No arrests have been made.
Anyone with information should call 020 8247 4554 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
