POLICE are trying to trace a driver who fled from the scene of a crash that left a woman trapped inside an overturned car.

A red car reportedly left the clockwise carriageway of the M25 between junctions four and five, near the Orpington turn-off, and went up the embankment before flipping over.

Firefighters from Dartford had to cut the trapped passenger free and she was taken to Darent Valley Hospital, also in Dartford, with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.

Police searched the area with a dog unit to try and find the man who had left the crash scene.

The stretch of motorway was temporarily closed to allow Kent Air Ambulance to land just before 2pm yesterday, but it was not needed in the end.

All lanes were open and traffic was moving freely by 3.45pm.
