POLICE have released CCTV images of two men in connection with an assault at Deptford railway station.
The assault on July 24 happened following an altercation between two groups of people on a crowded 11.40pm train from Charing Cross to Dartford.
This then spilled over onto a platform at Deptford station.
Lee Christopher, from New Cross, was taken by ambulance to hospital with life-threatening head injuries and remains in a coma.
Mr Christopher had recently spent time with his family in Switzerland following the death of his mother and had planned to move there with his sister, who recently discovered she was pregnant.
The family was due to leave for Switzerland last week.
Detective Superintendent Ashley Croft, the senior investigating officer, said: "We know from our investigations so far that this happened on a very busy train and there were a number of people on board who would have witnessed this incident and who we are keen to trace.
"This was a vicious attack on a man who was making his way home after a night out and I am asking anyone who recognises either of the men pictured in the CCTV images to come forward and talk to us.
"Assaults of this nature are extremely rare on the railway system but we are treating this incident very seriously and urge anyone who recognises the men in the CCTV images to come forward.”
Anyone with information should call 0207 391 5275 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
