RESIDENTS have been learning about gardening thanks to a mobile allotment.
Avant-Gardening, an environmental and arts project, has based the facility on Woolwich’s Nightingale Estate.
Designed by artist Lisa Cheung, it is designed to bring a small allotment space to urban areas and includes a cold greenhouse unit and flatbed planting space.
People have been using the allotment to grow vegetables and plants and make planters.
And charity Welcare has held a summer party there which included face-painting, a raffle and advice on balcony gardening.
Project organiser Paul Green said: “The mobile allotment has fast established itself as a community hub, bringing together people of all ages to reconsider their growing spaces and how to utilise them.”
