SHOPPERS can park in Beckenham for free on Thursdays this month while gas works are being carried out.
It applies from 10am onwards in three car parks in the town centre:
- Fairfield Road car park, near Lidl.
- Village Way multi-storey car park, near Sainsbury’s.
- St George’s Road car park, near St George’s Church.
The news follows a contribution from Southern Gas Networks (SGN) and coincides with their work which is being carried out in August in the town.
Bromley Council’s assistant director for transportation planning Gareth Davies said: “Beckenham is open for business throughout the summer.
“[The free parking] is a way to support small businesses in particular and the local economy as trade may be affected by these essential works.”
