A MUM of two spoke of her anxiety about her great uncle, aged 87, who lives on the eighth floor of a tower block.
Natalie Shaw, 31, of Lincoln Road, Slade Green, said her uncle had been stranded in his all-electric flat in Grange House, Sun Court, Slade Green, and was also without water because the supply to the block is provided via an electric pump.
Ms Shaw who has a two-year-old with special needs and a six-year-old, said she and her mother had taken him bread and milk after he lost all the food in his fridge and someone delivered five bottles of water.
She said: “We also took him flasks of hot water so he could make himself drinks.
“He could not get up or down the stairs as there was not even any emergency lighting”
Slade Green was one of the worst affected areas and the last to have power restored.
Ms Shaw said: “After the mobile phones died, there was no way of getting any information.
“Someone could at least have put up posters.
“And you don’t even get a ‘sorry’.”
