A MARKET researcher has just spent 12 weeks walking from Land’s End to John O’Groats in memory of his grandmother.
Brendan Bolger, 30, from Pickford Road, Bexleyheath, was impressed with the “amazing care” his gran, Mary Bolger, received during her stay at Greenwich and Bexley Cottage Hospice, in Abbey Wood.
But he was shocked to discover the hospice has to rely largely on donations to keep going.
Mrs Bolger, 87, a former teacher, died at the hospice four years ago from stomach cancer.
With his girlfriend Jenna to provide some occasional company, Mr Bolger kept up a daily blog along his 1,200 mile walk, camping or staying with friends or acquaintances along the route.
So far he has raised around £1,500.
