A VOLUNTEER museum dedicated to the air crews of the Second World War, is offering people a taste of the the RAF’s wartime past.

Shoreham Aircraft Museum has teamed up with The Spirit of Kent, which operates an historic Spitfire plane from Biggin Hill Airport, for a new fundraiser.

On August 8 and August 9, it is offering people the chance to learn firsthand about how to fly the plane, to sit in the cockpit and have their photograph taken there, complete with flying jacket and goggles.

The experience costs £30, which will be split between the Spitfire owners and the museum.

The money raised will pay to maintain the Spitfire and for museum projects.

Tickets for the experience, which runs from 10am on both days, are available from the museum, in Shoreham Village High Street, or by calling 01959 524416.
