FIREFIGHTERS will be performing a variety of demonstrations at a community safety day this Saturday(August 8).
The free event at Thames-side fire station, Coldharbour Road, Northfleet, includes a demo of a burning room, a chip pan fire, a mock car crash and a high rise rescue from a tower.
Community safety officers will be on hand to discuss the benefits of having a free home fire safety check, a service which includes fitting smoke alarms for free in homes.
Other attractions include a bouncy castle, face painting and a raffle, with hot food and refreshments also available.
Fire station manager Steve Dunn said: “With accidental cooking fires still the main cause of fires in the home, these displays carry very powerful messages to the public but the theme of the day is fun as well as safety so there’ll be plenty of activities for people to enjoy.”
