A CHARITABLE foundation which makes awards for achievements to young people has launched an annual awards ceremony for secondary schools in Bexley.
Held at The Orchard Theatre, Dartford, award winning students from 16 schools, and eight adults were presented with medallions, framed certificates and a cheque, by the Jack Petchey Foundation.
The young people were nominated by teachers and fellow students for a variety of achievements, such as fundraising, doing their best, mentoring or being a good citizen The eight adults also received leader awards.
Prize money of £200 for each winner goes to their school to buy extra resources or equipment.
The achievement scheme now provides £73,200 a year to Bexley schools.
Among the guests at the event was Bexley mayor, Councillor Bernard Clewes, who said: “This was a phenomenal evening.
“I was delighted to see so many young people from Bexley who have achieved so much in the last year and clearly will do so in the future.”
