A CHARITY which supports people in Bexley who care for someone else, has been celebrating its new “excellent” rating from the Care Quality Commission.
Young people aged between 18 and 30 work for Carers Support (Bexley) on a voluntary basis for between six months and a year, taking over the caring role so a family carer can take a break.
This can mean anything from sitting with someone for a few hours, to actuaally moving in while the carer goes on holiday.
Now its services have been given the top rating of three stars by the Government body in charge of regulating care providers.
Carers Support (Bexley) supports a variety of people from children with disabilities to older people with dementia and its volunteers come from all walks of life.
They celebrated with a lunch where Bexley councillor David Hurt, cabinet member for health and social care, was a guest.
