A FIREFIGHTER has been recognised for 30 years service to Londoners.
The Buncefield Oil terminal fire, IRA bombings and the Brixton riots are just three of the more high profile incidents that Howard Nimmo, of Romany Rise, Orpington, has worked on in his career.
His three decades of service were recognised at a ceremony at the Brigade’s training centre in Southwark where he was presented with a long service and good conduct medal.
The 52-year-old father-of-three said: “I can’t think of a more fulfilling and humbling experience than helping people in distress or in a life threatening situation.”
He added: “The camaraderie is also something I have enjoyed.
“Working as a firefighter in a team where you rely on each other creates unique bond that is very enduring.”
