STAFF at a Sidcup primary school were not down and out when faced with large copyright fees to stage a school production -they just rewrote it themselves.
Down and Out, loosely based on Bugsy Malone, was the end of term production at Days Lane Primary School in Days Lane, Sidcup.
With variations on the original songs and lots of local jokes added into the mix, the musical was the traditional farewell from the departing Year 6 children who are off to secondary school in September.
They were helped by the choir from Years 4 and 5, while all the costumes were made by parents and staff.
The children gave three public performances for family and friends and three for the other children at the school.
A collection for Cancer Research raised £150.
